The following Brothers, Advisors, and Sweethearts completed the 5 lessons of the Leadership Correspondence Course at Conclave ‘08, and have earned their Lamp of Knowledge (and for the Brothers, their Gold Correspondence Course merit bar):

Here are all the Brothers and Sweethearts who completed their RD/RS at Conclave 2008:

Congratulations to these Brothers and Sweethearts for all the hard work they put in at Conclave to complete their RD/RS. You have fulfilled one of Dad Land’s wishes — that every DeMolay would be a Representative DeMolay!

The 1st State Paintball Tournament was held Saturday, August 2nd at BigShots Paintball in Miami. Twenty-eight players participated in the tournament divided in 6 teams of 5. The State team was missing a couple of members, so they selected a couple of brothers to help round out the team.

We had 3 prospects in attendance and they will be attending the next meeting of their respective Chapter. Biscayne Bay and South Miami had 2 teams each and Boynton and State completed the 6 team tournament.

Because there were 3 teams on the winners bracket and had paint and time left by having less players then expected, it was decided to have all 3 teams play each other instead of one team having the chance of winning the tournament by playing just two matches.

Unfortunately all 3 teams end up in a tie and the referees didn’t count the amount of people alive in the end of the match to be used as tie break. So, the captains of the teams decided that no trophies should be issued and this would be a day of fun playing paintball.

It was a great day of fun, and Florida DeMolay offers its thanks to Dad Muraoka for organizing the paintball tournament, and BigShots for being our hosts.

Florida DeMolay offers its congratulations to Brother Lonnie Cox of Biscayne Bay Chapter, and Dad Larry Williamson of Bahia Chapter who were selected as the “DeMolay of the Year” and “Advisor of the Year” respectfully for 2008.

Brother Lonnie has shown outstanding leadership and commitment to DeMolay, and has helped to mold Biscayne Bay Chapter into an outstanding example of DeMolay in South Florida. His care and concern for his Brothers, and his desire to ensure that DeMolay is always portrayed in the best light has earned him this most coveted honor.

Dad Larry Williamson has been a dedicated Advisor, Chairman, and Chapter Dad for Bahia Chapter for a number of years. He has also served for the last several years as the District Youth Chairman for District 17, and has worked hard to get all the youth involved in programs across the district. As with many Advisors, Dad Larry is a Senior DeMolay from Bahia Chapter, having joined at 13 in 1972 (right after the age was lowered from 14 at Supreme Council that year). Dad Williamson is a Past Master Councilor, Chevalier, and holder of the DeMolay Legion of Honor.
