Scottish Rite Learning Centers Fundraiser

Filed under: News — Administrator @ 10:37 pm

Brethren All,

As we enter into this holiday season, we are often reminded of those in need. As part of the Masonic family, we should be ever aware of our obligation to assist where we can and when we can. Therefore, it is with great pleasure, that we are announcing a DeMolay-wide fundraising drive to contribute funds to the Scottish Rite children’s learning centers across America. There is no greater gift than that of helping a child in need. The Scottish Rite has developed learning centers across the country to help children with speech and language problems as well as with dyslexia related reading and writing language problems.

NOTE: Both the Northern and Southern Jurisdictions of Scottish Rite have learning center. They have different titles but serve the same purpose. We are asking you to work for the center closest to you regardless of whether you are in the Northern or Southern Scottish Rite Jurisdiction.

At the recent annual meeting of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, held in Chicago, an announcement was made stating that DeMolay would step up to the plate and assist these great learning centers by dedicating the month of December to a fundraising drive dedicated to raising money to help their efforts. In recent conversation, it was noted that Dad Land himself was an active Scottish Rite Mason and worked for the Scottish Rite for many years. Since November contains Frank S. Land Memorial Day, a DeMolay obligatory day, it was decided to start this drive early and run it through the months of November and December.

So, our challenge to you is simple – put together a fundraiser in your chapter during November or December, donate all of the proceeds to your nearest Scottish Rite Center for use in one of the learning centers and report your success to the International Master Councilor or the International Congress Secretary.

As it is our plan to do the same for the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children in the spring, we hope that this first effort will be a success and many chapters will take part in this event. If you have any questions, please e-mail your Congress officers at the addresses listed below. We wish you well in your efforts.

Fraternally,
